The Hotel Athenaeum Intercontinental, Athens
Our very own Louise Birkhead recently visited the Intercontinental in Athens and here are her thoughts from the visit.
‘The InterContinental is located approximately 35 minutes by taxi from Athens International Airport and was an easy transfer. We arrived at the hotel early evening to be greeted by a lovely doorman who showed us to our exclusive check in desk on the 8th floor of the hotel in the ‘Executive Club Lounge’. Once checked in, our rooms were fabulous with views overlooking the famous Acropolis. Dinner that evening was hosted in the Premier Restaurant where we had chance to taste their award winning 6 course dinner with paired wines followed by drinks on the terrace, an absolutely fabulous evening.
The following day, we saw all the various event spaces and again the hotel was very accommodating to our requests and had a fantastic ‘Yes attitude’. We very quickly finalised our event plans and then headed to the poolside Café Zoe for a food tasting of our event evening meals and buffet lunches! The presentation of the food was absolutely superb and everything tasted delicious.
That evening we took a short taxi ride from the hotel to the main attraction, the Acropolis. The views were stunning once it was all lit up and we found a fantastic restaurant and bar very close by where we could sit out in the evening overlooking Athens and the Acropolis.
All in all, it was a very successful trip and the hotel didn’t disappoint. They were fantastic hosts and we are very much looking forward to getting back there for the main event at the end of June!’
